A researcher at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Chidiebere Nwaneto, has called for the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven learning tools to support children living with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

In a statement on Thursday, Nwaneto urged education stakeholders to move beyond traditional “one-size-fits-all” teaching methods and embrace adaptive technologies tailored to diverse learning needs.

“Children with ADHD often face challenges such as short attention spans, distraction, impulsivity, and low engagement, which many conventional and digital platforms fail to address,” he said. “The future of education must be inclusive. Technology should work for every child, not just the majority.”

Nwaneto, a researcher at the Nigerian AI Research Laboratory, called on policymakers to prioritise inclusive digital education policies and urged schools to adopt adaptive learning tools to improve outcomes for neurodiverse learners.

He also encouraged technology developers to integrate accessibility and personalisation into educational platforms.

The researcher further appealed to parents, educators, and advocacy groups to raise awareness about ADHD and support early diagnosis and structured learning interventions.

His ongoing research is being supervised by Professor Chika Yinka-Banjo and Dr. Yetunde Folajimi.
