A United States congressman has said his Catholic faith remains central to his personal life, his decisions in public office, describing it as the foundation of how he raises his children, relates with others, approaches his responsibilities in government.
Congressman Riley Moore made the remarks while reacting to an award he received from Catholic Vote, a faith based civic organization which promotes religious engagement in public affairs.
He described the recognition as a great honour, thanked the organization for what he called its continued commitment towards supporting faith driven participation in national issues.
According to Moore, his beliefs influence not only his family values, but also his conduct on Capitol Hill, stressing that his moral convictions are inseparable from his political responsibilities.
Catholic Vote confirmed that Moore was selected as its Hero of the Year in recognition of his advocacy and public stance on issues it considers important to the Catholic community.
The organization has in recent years increased its involvement in public education and voter engagement efforts, particularly among faith based groups across the United States.
