U.S. President Donald Trump announced that any country trading with Iran will face a 25% tariff on its trade with the United States, amid Iran’s largest anti-government protests in years.

Iran exported to 147 trading partners in 2022. Its top partners include China, India, Turkey, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates.

China is Iran’s largest trading partner, importing $22 billion worth of Iranian goods in 2022, mostly fuel, while exporting $15 billion in goods to Iran. India’s trade with Iran reached $1.34 billion in the first ten months of 2025, including rice, fruits, vegetables, and pharmaceutical products.

Iran’s exports to Turkey amounted to $5.8 billion, while imports were $6.1 billion. Germany imported $178 million of Iranian goods, and South Korea and Japan maintained smaller trade volumes.

Fuel remains Iran’s biggest export, while major imports include machinery, intermediate goods, and agricultural products.

The tariffs reflect U.S. efforts to increase economic pressure on Tehran amid ongoing sanctions targeting its nuclear program and other activities.
