Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, has called for the current ceasefire in Syria to remain in effect while Islamic State (IS) prisoners are transferred to Iraq.
He stressed that maintaining the truce between Syrian government forces and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces is essential to prevent instability during the transfer and avoid further destabilization in northern and eastern Syria.
Fidan made the remarks in a televised interview, emphasizing that the truce would help limit security risks amid the delicate operation.
