United States President, Donald Trump has warned that Iran could face a far stronger military response if it attempts to block oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise.

Trump said the United States would respond “twenty times harder” if Iran interferes with oil tankers passing through the strategic waterway, a major route for global energy supplies. The warning came hours after he suggested the conflict could end soon.

The Strait of Hormuz carries roughly one fifth of the world’s oil supply, making any disruption a major concern for global energy markets. Oil prices have fluctuated sharply in recent days amid fears that the conflict could interrupt shipments through the route.

Iranian officials have said Tehran will determine when the conflict ends, rejecting suggestions that the United States could dictate the outcome of the war. Large crowds have also gathered across Iran in support of the country’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

The conflict has widened across the region, with several Gulf countries reporting interceptions of Iranian missiles and drones. Authorities in the United Arab Emirates said air defence systems had been activated to counter aerial threats.

Bahrain also reported air raid sirens after missile activity in the area, while officials said a residential building had been struck during an Iranian attack.

Meanwhile, fighting has continued in Lebanon where Israeli strikes and clashes with Hezbollah have intensified following the broader regional escalation.

Regional governments are increasing security measures as fears grow that the conflict could expand beyond its current front lines. Analysts say the situation remains highly volatile as diplomatic and military tensions continue to mount.
