President Donald Trump has postponed the implementation of new tariff increases on imported upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and bathroom vanities by one year.
According to a statement released by the White House, the tariffs, originally scheduled to take effect earlier, will now be enforced in 2027. The move is intended to give manufacturers, importers, and retailers extra time to adjust supply chains, manage potential cost pressures.
Industry stakeholders had warned that the tariffs could drive up consumer prices, disrupt the housing and interior furnishing market. The delay is expected to provide temporary relief to businesses, while the administration continues reviewing broader trade and economic policies.
The White House did not specify whether additional adjustments to the tariff policy would be considered before the new implementation date.
