Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) South East, under Operation UDO KA, have successfully carried out a decisive assault on the notorious Mother Valley in Nkwere, Anambra State, a long-standing stronghold of IPOB/ESN militants.
On 26 February 2026, combined forces of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps advanced relentlessly for over three hours through difficult terrain, overcoming fierce resistance from militants.
One IPOB member was neutralized while several others fled with gunshot wounds, effectively dismantling the group’s defensive positions.
The troops recovered a significant cache of weapons and logistics, including two pump-action guns, a locally fabricated gun, a tear gas gun, seven gas cylinders, an electric kettle, and extremist flags.
They also destroyed all life-support structures at the terrorists’ headquarters, including solar panels and a Mikano generator, dealing a critical blow to their operational capacity.
In a related operation, two suspected IPOB members were arrested one while attempting to plant an IED and the other acting as a spy monitoring troop movements. Authorities also recovered a KIA saloon car and a black Toyota Sequoia from a militant car park in the valley.
The Nigerian Army has assured law-abiding citizens of continued protection while warning criminal elements that there will be no sanctuary, no hiding place, and no escape.
