Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have successfully conducted an intelligence-driven operation leading to the recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition in Takum Local Government Area, Taraba State.

The operation, conducted on January 4, 2026, followed actionable intelligence regarding the movement of an associate of a notorious criminal leader, John Ngata.

Troops deployed at Zaki-Biam immediately established a roadblock along the suspected route. The suspect was intercepted without incident, voluntarily led security forces to a concealed armoury at Amadu Village.

The operation resulted in the seizure of thirteen AK-47 rifles, thirty-nine AK-47 magazines, six hundred and ninety rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and four hand grenades. The armoury was destroyed to prevent further use, and troops withdrew safely.

Major General Moses Gara, Force Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke, commended the troops for their professionalism and swift action, noting that the operation disrupted a criminal supply chain, removed lethal weapons from circulation.

He reiterated the commitment of the task force to maintain troop welfare, operational readiness, and effective community engagement. Residents were urged to continue providing actionable intelligence to security forces, with assurances of confidentiality and prompt response.

Operation Whirl Stroke remains resolute in ensuring peace, stability, and protection of lives and property across its area of responsibility.
