TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI DISRUPT ILLICIT DRUG SUPPLY NETWORK IN NORTH EAST

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a major operational success in disrupting terrorist logistics, criminal support networks in the region.

According to a statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the troops acted on credible intelligence on January 23, 2026, and arrested a 65 year old suspected drug dealer, Hauwa Abulazeez, in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

The suspect is alleged to be a key supplier of cannabis sativa to Boko Haram elements, operating in Askira Uba, Rumirgo, Gwahi, Wamdiyo, Uvu and Gaya communities.

Preliminary investigations revealed that she sourced the illicit drugs from Sarti Baruwa Local Government Area of Taraba State, transported them through established supply routes for distribution across several communities within the theatre of operations.

During the operation, troops recovered 14 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa, weighing about 30 kilograms.

The suspect is currently in custody, undergoing investigation, while follow up operations are ongoing to identify, dismantle the wider trafficking network.

The military said the operation underscores sustained efforts to deny terrorists and criminal groups access to illicit supply chains that fuel violence, insecurity in the North East.

Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to continued intelligence driven operations aimed at restoring lasting peace, stability across the region.
