TROOPS NEUTRALIZE TERRORISTS, FORCE SURRENDER OF FIGHTERS IN BORNO OPERATIONS

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have sustained intensive offensive operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province ISWAP fighters across parts of Borno State, leading to the surrender of terrorists, destruction of camps, recovery of weapons.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops operating along the Azir Wajiroko axis forced 11 terrorist fighters to surrender. The surrendered fighters handed over their AK 47 rifles and assorted ammunition.

The statement said that on January 9, 2026, troops carried out extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, where several terrorist enclaves and camps were destroyed at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile.

During the operations, soldiers dismantled terrorist life support structures, degraded logistics networks and recovered items, including; terrorist flags, weapons and ammunition magazines.

Similar offensive actions in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas also forced terrorists to flee their positions. Troops destroyed additional logistics facilities and recovered more weapons, ammunition and a general purpose machine gun.

In a related operation based on credible intelligence, troops engaged JAS and ISWAP elements between Sojiri and Kayamla villages. The encounter resulted in the neutralization of eight terrorists and the recovery of AK 47 rifles.

The military also arrested two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators in Gubio Local Government Area for allegedly supplying logistics support to terrorist groups.

The Nigerian military said operations would continue until terrorist elements are completely degraded, lasting peace restored across the North East.
