Troops of Sector 1 under Operation WHIRL STROKE have neutralized two suspected terrorists and recovered an automatic firearm during a patrol in Amafu Iwer, Benue State. The operation, which took place along the Katsina-Ala–Zaki Biam Road, was carried out following credible intelligence provided by local residents.
According to the Joint Task Force, the troops, in collaboration with the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, encountered the bandits during a combined confidence-building and combat patrol.
In the ensuing engagement, two terrorists were neutralised while others fled into the bush, leaving behind one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, eight rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a set of green camouflage uniforms.
The Force Commander of Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, praised the professionalism, courage, and swift response of the troops.
He also acknowledged the critical role of local communities in providing timely intelligence and encouraged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies.
Major General Gara urged troops to maintain strong coordination with other security agencies, emphasizing that sustained collective efforts are essential for lasting peace and stability across the Joint Operations Area.
The JTF reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring residents of ongoing measures to rid the state of criminal and terrorist elements.
