Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army, Sector 1, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully foiled an armed robbery attack along the Abuja–Kaduna Highway today, January 6, 2026, preventing harm to commuters.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Shuaib Umar, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, the troops, on routine patrol, received a distress call about an ongoing armed robbery at Nasarawan Doka. They promptly mobilized to the scene and engaged the criminals, neutralizing the threat.

One suspect, Kabiru Zayyanu, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was evacuated to Doka General Hospital for first aid. Other members of the gang fled, and a hot pursuit was conducted, though no further contact was made. There were no casualties or abductions reported.

The arrested suspect will be handed over to the relevant security agency upon completion of investigations. The Nigerian Army reassures the public of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urges citizens to report suspicious activities.

The general security situation in the area remains calm, with troops maintaining a strong presence to ensure continued safety.
