Colleagues, friends, family members have paid glowing tributes to Nollywood actress Ajara Lasisi, popularly known as Aunty Ajara, following her burial.
Videos shared on Instagram on Thursday, February 5, 2026, captured emotional moments as the actress was laid to rest in the presence of loved ones. She was buried the same day she passed away, in line with Islamic rites.
Earlier, her brother, Ridwan Lasisi, announced her death in a video message to the public.
“Good morning to you all. My name is Ridwan Lasisi. I am a brother to Ajara. The doctor confirmed to us this morning that Ajara has passed on. All the families, we are using this period to appreciate you all. We appreciate the president and all industry members,” he said.
Confirming the circumstances surrounding her passing, fellow actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke revealed that the late actress had been battling a liver-related illness.
“I would say she should rest in peace. That’s just all I have to say to her. Everybody knew that she had a liver problem,” Oshodi-Oke said.
She also reflected on their bond as colleagues and friends, describing the loss as deeply painful.
“She was my friend and colleague. Whenever we were at a location, we would talk and play; but now we can’t do that again,” she added.
Another actress, Ramota Adetu, also mourned Aunty Ajara in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“My dear friend, Aunty Ajara has gone. I was coming to see you with my sister but you couldn’t wait. Rest in perfect peace,” she wrote.
Aunty Ajara was well known for her roles in Yoruba films and was admired for her warmth and professionalism. Her passing has left a void in the Nollywood industry, with many colleagues continuing to express grief and fond memories of her life and work.
