President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rejoiced with Nigerians at home and in the diaspora as Christians across the world mark the 2026 Easter celebration.
In his Easter message, the President noted that the season symbolizes the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, underscoring the redemptive power of salvation, as well as the enduring values of sacrifice, resilience, and the triumph of light over darkness.
He said the lessons of Easter strongly resonate with Nigeria’s current realities, as the nation navigates economic challenges and security concerns, while deliberate efforts are being made to address them.
President Tinubu acknowledged that, despite the administration’s efforts and the sacrifices of the Armed Forces in combating insecurity, challenges persist.
He, however, assured Nigerians that his government remains committed to strengthening security through increased resource allocation and strategic international partnerships aimed at tackling terrorism and banditry.
The President also referenced his recent visit to Jos, Plateau State, where he commiserated with victims of violence and reassured residents of improved security and better days ahead.
He noted that security agencies have provided firm assurances of progress, with additional support being sought from international partners.
While expressing confidence in the appreciation of citizens for ongoing efforts, President Tinubu emphasized the need for unity and national cohesion, stressing that no nation can thrive in an atmosphere of fear or sustain progress without peace.
He extended his assurance to other parts of the country facing security challenges, stating that ongoing efforts are already yielding positive results.
The President called on Nigerians to support lawful initiatives, promote unity, and reject actions that threaten collective peace and stability.
On the economy, he noted that ongoing reforms, though demanding, are necessary steps toward achieving shared prosperity, adding that meaningful transformation often requires sacrifice.
As the country gradually approaches another electoral cycle, President Tinubu urged political actors and citizens to uphold the provisions of the Electoral Act, emphasizing the importance of peaceful, responsible, and informed participation in the democratic process.
He expressed optimism about the nation’s economic trajectory, stating that current indicators suggest the country is on the right path, with a “new dawn on the horizon.”
President Tinubu thanked Nigerians for their continued support and trust in his administration, pledging to remain committed to building a stronger, more prosperous, and secure nation.
