President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated three non-career ambassadors to represent Nigeria in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, pending their confirmation by the Senate.
The nominees are Ambassador Ayodele Oke, Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are, and Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu.
Their postings to the three strategic diplomatic missions will be finalised upon completion of the Senate screening process.
Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu is returning to foreign service, having previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

He was first appointed to that role in 2016 and is regarded as one of the experienced hands in Nigeria’s diplomatic circle.
Ambassador Ayodele Oke, a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, is a former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
He also represented Nigeria at the Secretariat of the Commonwealth of Nations in London, bringing extensive intelligence and diplomatic experience to his new nomination.
Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are, a distinguished security professional, served as Director General of the State Security Service (SSS) from 1999 to 2007.
He was appointed National Security Adviser in 2010 and previously worked with the Directorate of Military Intelligence.
Are is an alumnus of the University of Ibadan, where he graduated with First Class Honours in Psychology in 1980.
The nominations reflect President Tinubu’s preference for seasoned security and diplomatic experts to represent Nigeria in key international capitals.
