President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has appointed Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), replacing Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who resigned to contest the 2027 Adamawa governorship election.
In a separate move, the President also renewed the tenure of Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for a second and final term.
Both appointments take effect immediately.
Professor Aliyu, until his appointment, served as the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.
He is a seasoned academic and administrator with extensive experience in research, education, and institutional leadership.

His appointment underscores the President’s focus on strengthening key institutions in the petroleum sector and boosting capacity development for Nigeria’s energy industry.
Engineer Abdulaziz, who has over three decades of experience in the power sector, was reappointed following a performance review of his stewardship at TCN.
During his tenure, the company has improved grid stability, expanded transmission capacity, and modernized the electricity system.

He has also played a crucial role in regional electricity integration through his leadership in the West African Power Pool (WAPP).
President Tinubu called on both appointees to perform their duties with integrity, diligence, and a strong sense of national service, in line with his Renewed Hope Agenda.
