The Rivers State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in the investigation into the disappearance of Sampson Worianime, who was reported missing on November 11, 2025.

Worianime reportedly went missing after accompanying youths from Ogbogbo Community in Okrika to their old settlement to measure a parcel of land.

Following a petition submitted by the victim’s mother, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) of the Command commenced an intelligence-led investigation, which led to the arrest of two suspects.

The statement signed by CSP Grace Iringe-Koko,
the State Police Public Relations Officer identified the suspects as Igwe Alex, 26, the Chief Security Officer of Aleto-Eleme Community, and John Mikel, 24, both residents of Aleto-Eleme.

During preliminary investigation, the suspects allegedly confessed to abducting two youths from Okrika.

While one of the victims reportedly escaped, Worianime was killed, and his body disposed of in a nearby river.

The suspects subsequently led police operatives to the location where the victim’s remains were buried.

The remains were recovered from a shallow grave, taken for further examination.

The suspects are currently in police custody, are cooperating with investigators, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other accomplices involved in the crime.

The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and urged members of the public to provide any useful information that could assist the ongoing investigation.
