Brigadier General Ismaila Sule has officially assumed office as the 17th Director of Recruitment in the Nigerian Army, pledging to consolidate existing gains and strengthen standards in the recruitment process.
The handover ceremony took place on Thursday, February 13, 2026, at the Directorate of Recruitment Headquarters in Abuja, where Brig.-Gen. Sule succeeded Brigadier General Chibueze Ogbuabo.
In his inaugural address, Brig.-Gen. Sule reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining ongoing reforms, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring the enlistment of credible and merit-based personnel into the Nigerian Army.
He charged officers and soldiers of the Directorate to remain disciplined, professional, and resolute in upholding the highest standards in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.
He expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for the confidence reposed in him and commended his predecessor for his impactful leadership and contributions to strengthening the Directorate.
In his valedictory remarks, Brig.-Gen. Ogbuabo congratulated his successor and urged personnel to give him maximum cooperation.
He stressed the importance of professionalism, integrity, and dedication in advancing the Directorate’s critical role in manpower development for the Army.
