Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has revealed why he always visits Olusosun whenever he returns to Nigeria, describing the community as a significant part of his life’s journey.
RISMADAR Voice Media reports that Olusosun is a community located in Lagos State, Nigeria.
According to Osimhen, the environment and experiences he had there played a crucial role in shaping him into the person he is today.
The 26-year-old football star described Olusosun as an amazing place where he learned valuable life lessons that helped him rise from humble beginnings to global recognition. He explained that he makes it a point to visit the community to express gratitude and inspire the younger generation.
“I came from a very poor background. I’m the last born of seven. I lost my mum at a very young age, and my father passed on in 2020,” Osimhen said in an interview published on UEFA’s website after Galatasaray’s 3-0 Champions League victory over Ajax on Wednesday.
“Before I rose to fame, before I became someone important in life, my childhood was really tough because, as a young lad, I had to live for myself and help my siblings raise money to support our father after our mother’s death,” he explained.
“Olusosun shaped me to become the kind of person I am today. As much as I wouldn’t say it gave me so much materially, it taught me life lessons that have guided me through my journey.”
“For me, it’s really an amazing place. That’s why, any time I’m in Nigeria, I always go there to show gratitude and to show the young kids that if I could make it out of this place, they too can.”
Osimhen’s story continues to inspire millions of Nigerians who see in him a symbol of resilience, hard work, and faith.
