The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has congratulated Nigerians on the celebration of Easter, urging Christians across the country to reflect on, emulate the teachings of Jesus Christ, whom he described as a perfect role model for humanity.
In his Easter message, Abbas called on Christians to sustain prayers for Nigeria and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu beyond the Lenten season.
He stressed the need for continued spiritual support for the country as it strives to overcome its challenges, achieve greater national progress.
The Speaker also appealed for mutual respect, peaceful coexistence among Nigerians of different faiths and ethnic backgrounds. He described the coincidence of Ramadan and Lent in 2026 as a divine arrangement capable of fostering unity and a shared sense of purpose among Muslims and Christians in Nigeria and across the world.
Similarly, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, urged Nigerians to embrace hope, unity, and a shared sense of humanity as Christians mark the Easter celebration.

Kalu described Easter as a powerful reminder of sacrifice, renewal, and the triumph of hope over despair. He encouraged citizens to reflect deeply on the enduring values symbolised by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He also called on Nigerians to extend kindness, compassion to the less privileged and vulnerable in society, noting that even little acts of generosity can collectively make a meaningful impact in building a more caring, united, and cohesive nation.
