Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi has reacted to reports of the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing him as a “lucky soul” who died in what he characterized as jihad.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, Gumi said Khamenei died while standing against those he accused of killing innocent women and children in Gaza and other parts of the world.
“Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: A lucky soul, he died in Jihad against killers of innocent children and women in Gaza, elsewhere,” Gumi wrote.
He further stated that the late Iranian leader’s death would inspire change within the Muslim community, asserting that Khamenei remained steadfast in his position and did not retreat from conflict.
“His blood will fuel the change in the ummah. He stood firmly for justice and didn’t hide in bunkers. For those who killed him or assisted in killing him, let us see what they will live to do in this world,” he added.
Khamenei, who led Iran for decades as its Supreme Leader and played a central role in the country’s political and religious establishment, was reported to have died following an Israeli strike in Tehran on Saturday.
His reported death has continued to generate reactions across religious and political circles globally, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
