SENATOR ALBERT COMMENDS MOSES ESSIEN AT IBIONO IBOM CONSTITUENCY BRIEFING

Immediate past Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, CON, has called for deliberate encouragement of leaders who deliver tangible results, saying such support will inspire them in doing more for the people.

Senator Akpan made this statement on Friday December 12, 2025 at the Ikpa Pavilion in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area during the maiden Ibiono Ibom State Constituency Briefing of Hon. Moses Essien.

Chairing the occasion, the Senator Akpan expressed admiration for the scale, impact of the empowerment programme carried out by the lawmaker, which saw over (N100,000,000) one hundred million naira worth of support distributed to constituents across the eleven INEC wards of Ibiono Ibom.

According to Senator Akpan, leaders who perform well deserve open commendation, noting that appreciation remains a powerful motivation for sustained service.

“Tell him you have done well, so he can do more”, Senator Akpan said, while addressing stakeholders, beneficiaries at the event.

He explained that effective representation goes beyond speeches, bills, motions, stressing that the real test of leadership lies in how policies, personal initiatives translate into improved livelihoods at the grassroots.

Senator Akpan described Hon. Moses Essien as a Legislator who has shown clear understanding about the needs of his people, has responded with practical interventions that touches lives directly.

He urged beneficiaries of the empowerment items to use the support wisely, adding that responsible use would validate the purpose of the program, encourage future interventions.

The constituency briefing featured distribution of cars, business grants, cash support, work tools to beneficiaries – drawn from across the local government area.

Items distributed included (N50,000,000) fifteen million naira in cash, generators, freezers, hair dryers, aluminium cutting machines, motorcycles, welding machines, sewing machines, mechanic toolboxes, note books to primary schools across Ibiono Ibom.

In his remarks, Hon. Moses Essien said the empowerment initiative was anchored on welfare, entrepreneurship, youth development, sustainable community growth. He described the programme as a product of engagement, collaboration, goodwill.

Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, in a goodwill message delivered by his Special Adviser on Legislative Matters, Rt Hon Emmanuel Bassey, commended the lawmaker for supporting the state government’s development agenda through entrepreneurship driven programmes.

Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Udeme Otong, equally praised Hon. Essien, describing him as a dependable, vocal member of the Assembly.

Other dignitaries present included the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi represented, the Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Council Rt Hon Asuakak Umoh, traditional rulers, members of the State Assembly, political leaders, youth groups, community stakeholders.

The event ended with appreciation from beneficiaries, who described the empowerment as timely, impactful, while echoing Senator Akpan’s call for continued support for leaders who show genuine commitment towards the welfare of the people.
