SECURITY THREATS: NSA OFFICE, PAVE NETWORK TO DOMESTICATE PCVE IN JIGAWA

As part of effort to address insecurity challenges and promote peace and stability, the Partnership Against Violences and Extremism Network (PAVE Network) in collaboration with office of the National Security Adviser concluded arrangements to Domesticate National Action Plan on Prevention and Countering Violence Extremism (PCVE) in Jigawa state.

The move was announced by the representative of Counter Terrorism Centre, office of the National Security Adviser Abuja Alhaji Muhammad Auwal Al’amin, while delivering his speech at a two-day Prevention and Countering Violence and Extremism (PCVE) capacity building workshop organized by PAVE Network with support From North-East Youths Initiative For Development (NEYIF), held at Manpower Development Institute Dutse.

The workshop that converge the relevant security stakeholders aimed to promote peace, stability and reduce violence extremism, tagged with a theme ‘Stakeholder’s Roles in Community Resilience and CB-RRR.

Mr Al’amin explained that, office of the National Security Adviser through Counter Terrorism Centre is committed address security challenges bedeviling the country more especially in the Northern part of the country.

“We are in Jigawa to support state government on Domestication of PCVE National Action Plan (NAP) to draft a state PCVE Action Plan (SAP) that would help in addressing violence and Extremism in the Jigawa”, he said.

He then commended Partnership Against Violences and Extremism Network (PAVE Network) for organizing the capacity building workshop and Urged the participants to step down the skills acquired during the workshop to their respective followers for a better peaceful Jigawa state.

While delivering his speech, the state chairman Partnership Against Violences and Extremism Network, Comrade Muhammad Musbahu Basirka said, the gesture is to promote peace and stability among Jigawa citizens.

He explained that, important stakeholders like religious and traditional leaders, Security agencies representatives, media, Civil Society Organizations, Youths groups and other relevant stakeholders brainstorm and equipped with skills and knowledge on to address violences and Extremism in the state.

Comrade Basirka said, the state government has already formed a PCVE steering committee whom will soon drafted the PCVE Action Plan (SAP) and forward it to government for possible approval.

He also commended state government’s commitments towards improving security and ensuring peace in Jigawa.
