A member of the House of Representatives, Solomon Bob, has criticized the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, over remarks suggesting that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been adequately compensated by the administration.

Bob, who represents Abua/Odual/Ahoada East Federal Constituency in Rivers State and is a known political ally of Wike, described the presidential aide as an attention-seeking operator whose comments were a deliberate distortion of facts.

The remarks from Bwala came during a television programme on Friday, where he implied that Wike was undermining the ability of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to govern effectively. Bob rejected the assertions, calling them “cheeky, unwarranted, and driven by personal bias.”

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt, shared with journalists in Abuja, Bob said Bwala downplayed Wike’s contributions, including the minister’s role in exiting the Treasury Single Account in the FCT, describing the initiative as Wike’s idea which demonstrated his competence and innovative approach.

Bob further criticized Bwala for projecting personal opinions as official presidential positions. “He denigrates his office by infusing his public comments with personal sentiments and biases while passing them off as the President’s view,” he said.

The lawmaker also suggested that Bwala’s comments may reflect lingering disappointment from the 2023 presidential election, noting that the Minister played a key role in the success of the opposing candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the past political contest.

Bob urged the presidential aide to focus on his official responsibilities, emphasizing that his public statements do not represent President Tinubu’s position.

Wike and Fubara have been embroiled in a prolonged political feud since Fubara assumed office as Rivers State Governor in May 2023. The dispute has involved disagreements over political control, legislative conflicts, and public confrontations, prompting interventions by the Presidency.

Despite these interventions, tensions remain, with each side accusing the other of obstructing governance in the state. Bob’s response to Bwala’s comments highlights the continuing sensitivity surrounding the political landscape in Rivers State.
