In his continuous effort to empower young people with globally relevant skills, the Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Public Procurement, Rep. Unyime Idem, Ph.D., has sponsored the 18th batch of four Akwa Ibom youths to China for advanced training in Eco-Leather Manufacturing Technology and Digital Security.
The fully funded international training program is part of Rep. Idem’s commitment to his long-term youth empowerment initiative, aimed at equipping 100 Akwa Ibom youths with modern technical and entrepreneurial skills that meet global standards.
The four selected beneficiaries include:
Peter Peter Saturday
Ndifreke Sunday Otu
Anietie Mark Etuk
Emmanson Aniekan Eno
At a brief send-forth ceremony held in Abuja, Rep. Idem expressed his passion for youth development and emphasized that the training was designed to prepare young Akwa Ibomites to compete effectively in the global marketplace.
“The world has become a global village, and there’s a strong need for our young people to be exposed to modern technology so they can compete globally,” Rep. Idem stated. “Wherever you find yourselves, I want you to stand tall and not lag behind.”
He explained that the program is part of his broader vision to raise a new generation of self-reliant, skilled, and globally competitive Akwa Ibom youths who can drive innovation and industrial growth in Nigeria.

“My goal is to train and empower at least 100 Akwa Ibomites to become self-sufficient and globally competent,” he continued. “The level of training and exposure I’ve gained over the years has shaped who I am today, and it is my desire that each of you does even better.”
Rep. Idem assured that the initiative would be sustained and expanded in batches until the target number is achieved.
A section of his official letter to the beneficiaries, titled “Letter of Nomination and Sponsorship to Training in China,” reads in part:
“As a participant in the training, you are entitled to a travel allowance. Beyond that, your experience in China will place you on a platform to compete favorably with your counterparts across the world. I urge you to be of good conduct as ambassadors of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria. I wish you a safe journey and a successful training experience.”
The beneficiaries, visibly excited, expressed gratitude to Rep. Idem for his generosity and commitment to youth empowerment, describing the opportunity as a life-changing experience that would open global doors for them.
Rep. Idem’s ongoing empowerment program has continued to attract commendation from stakeholders, as it aligns with his broader vision of transforming Ukanafun/Oruk Anam into a hub of skilled professionals, innovators, and globally recognized entrepreneurs.
