Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has restated his administration’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling contractual obligations and ensuring the timely delivery of critical projects across the state.

The governor commended contractors who have returned to site to take advantage of the fast-approaching dry season, noting that their prompt resumption would accelerate ongoing work.

He directed other contractors still off-site to immediately mobilise and utilise the favourable weather window to meet project deadlines.

Speaking to Government House correspondents after an intensive four-hour inspection tour of key projects in Nsit Ubium and Eket Local Government Areas, Governor Eno said time and love for the people remain his driving force.

“We don’t have time. We have a short dry season because of climate change, and we have been waiting. So now is the time for all of us to get back and get the job done,” the governor stressed.

Highlighting his personal commitment to monitoring project execution, he added:
“My driving force is time and the love for the people. The homecoming ceremony finished yesterday. I could have gone back to Uyo, but my attitude is that wherever I am, there are projects around. So I seize the opportunity to see for myself how work is going. Thank God the dry season is setting in, so we can work with the contractors, understand their challenges and provide solutions.”

Among the projects inspected were the remodeling of Cottage Hospital and the Model Primary School in Nsit Ubium, as well as the 2.4-kilometre Nsit Ubium–Eket Road through Ofriyo.

The road, when completed, will improve inter-local government connectivity and support economic activities.

Providing updates on the road project, the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga, said the dual-carriageway—being executed by Amitec Construction Ltd—includes two 120-metre bridges.

He described the route as an economically viable alternative that will connect Nsit Ibom and Nsit Ubium to Eket through Ofriyo community.
