The President’s aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of Zayed International Airport at exactly 11:30pm local time.

He was received by the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan; the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi; Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; and members of the Nigerian diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi.

Also present to welcome the President at his hotel were the Minister of Budget and Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed, among other senior officials.

President Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi from Europe, where he spent part of his end-of-year break, held bilateral engagements with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, themed “The Nexus of Next, All Systems Go,” serves as a global platform, bringing together world leaders, policymakers, investors, and experts to advance dialogue and collective action on sustainable development, climate change, energy transition, and inclusive economic growth.

The President’s participation further underscores Nigeria’s commitment to global sustainability efforts and reinforces the strong diplomatic, economic relations between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.
