The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has raised alarm over an alleged plot to disrupt economic activities in Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, warning that decisive action will be taken against those involved.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, disclosed that the Command had received credible intelligence pointing to a coordinated effort by certain individuals, including traditional rulers, politicians, and youth leaders, to destabilize economic operations in the area.
According to the police, such actions pose a significant threat to the livelihoods of residents and the broader economic stability of Eastern Obolo, where many depend on a peaceful environment for daily business activities.
“The Command views this development as a serious threat to law-abiding citizens and will not tolerate any attempt to sabotage economic activities or incite unrest for personal or political gain,” the statement read.
CP Azare issued a stern warning to those allegedly involved, urging them to immediately abandon any plans that could lead to a breakdown of law and order. He emphasized that the police are actively monitoring the situation and will respond swiftly to any sign of disruption.
“The Police will identify, arrest, and prosecute any individual or group found culpable, irrespective of status or influence,” he added.

The Command also reaffirmed its readiness to protect critical infrastructure, particularly assets linked to the Federal Government’s energy security, noting that all necessary measures have been put in place to prevent any form of economic sabotage.
Residents, community leaders, and stakeholders were urged to caution youths and associates against participating in unlawful activities, warning that violators would face severe consequences.

The police further called on the public to remain law-abiding, support security agencies by providing credible information to help maintain peace and security across the state.
