The Rivers State Police Command has announced a restriction of movement in Ahoada East Constituency 2 and Khana Constituency 2 ahead of the constituency by-elections scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The elections follow the resignation of former lawmaker, Hon. Edison Ehie in Ahoada East and the passing of Hon. Dinebari Loolo in Khana Constituency 2 in September 2023.
According to the State Police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, the restriction will take effect from 12 noon to 6pm on Saturday. The measure aims to ensure a peaceful, free, and credible electoral process. Massive security deployment will be in place across the two local government areas, with personnel stationed at strategic locations, polling units, and major roads to prevent violence and electoral malpractice.
The statement urged residents to comply strictly with the restriction order, avoid loitering near polling units, refrain from carrying weapons or dangerous items, and report any suspicious activities.
