POLICE RECOVERS OVER 4,000 ILLICIT DRUGS, ARRESTS DEALERS IN JIGAWA

The Jigawa State Police Command has sustained its aggressive onslaught against drug dealers, other criminal elements across the state as part of its unwavering commitment to rid the state of illicit drugs, related crimes.

Police said in a series of coordinated intelligence-led raids carried out across several Local Government Areas, operatives of the Command arrested a drug dealer, one Mutari Shu’aibu ‘m’ age 20yrs of Dutse Local Government Area, alongside other suspects in Guri, Gumel, Sara, Shuwarin, Sundimina, Kazaure, M/Madori, Ringim, B/Kudu, and K/Hausa towns.

According to the Police, during the operations, the suspects were found in possession of four thousand six hundred and fifty-eight (4,658) wraps and quantities of illicit drugs of various kinds, suspected to be hard drugs, which were intended for distribution within communities, and the exhibits have since been recovered, recorded as evidence.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Jigawa State Police Command. SP Shiisu Lawan Adam and made available to journalists.

It added that following a discreet investigation, all the suspects have since been arraigned in court to face the law.

The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP Dahiru Muhammad, commended the officers involved for their professionalism, diligence, and commitment to duty.

He reiterated that the Command will not relent on its toes to clamp down on drug trafficking, abuse, other criminal activities that threatens public safety, security, the future of youths in the state.

The Jigawa State Police Command calls on members of the public to continue supporting the police by providing timely, credible information on criminal activities.

The Command also assures the good people of the state of its readiness towards ensuring a safe, secure, drug-free society”, the statement read in part.
