POLICE RECOVER SUSPECTED STOLEN VEHICLE, FIREARMS, AMMUNITION IN AKWA IBOM

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough following a successful late-night operation that led to the recovery of a suspected stolen vehicle, firearms and other weapons.

According to a statement issued today, 11th November, 2025 and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the operation took place last Friday, November 7, 2025, at about 11:30 p.m., when a surveillance patrol team conducting a routine stop-and-search on Mbak Itam III by Nassarawa Market intercepted a black Toyota Camry with registration number LND 360 DC.

The vehicle, which was occupied by four unidentified individuals, was suspected to have been stolen.

Upon sighting the Police team, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby bush to evade arrest.

A thorough search of the abandoned vehicle led to the recovery of two locally made pistols; four live cartridges, two Tecno Android phones, one battle axe; one machete; one battery charger, two vehicle number plates (Reg. No. BKS 705 DD) and two black headgears.

The statement says the recovered Toyota Camry has been impounded and taken to the station as an exhibit to aid ongoing investigations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has directed a discreet and comprehensive investigation to arrest the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.

The Commissioner reassured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents of Akwa Ibom State.
