The Nigeria Police Force on Thursday held a pull-out parade in honour of the 22nd indigenous Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun (rtd), at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The ceremony, which marked the end of Egbetokun’s years of service in the force, brought together senior police officers, government officials and other dignitaries who gathered to celebrate his contributions to the Nigeria Police Force and the nation. 🇳🇬

Tribune Online reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had on February 24, 2026 accepted Egbetokun’s resignation as the nation’s IGP. Following the development, the President announced the appointment of Olatunji Rilwan Disu as the acting Inspector-General of Police, pending his eventual confirmation by the Nigeria Police Council.

At the ceremony, the acting IGP, Disu, was present as the retired police chief took the salute on the podium during the parade.

Also in attendance was the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Hashimu Argungu, a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, who delivered a goodwill message.
