The suspects were identified as Ifeanyi Ibeabuchi, 39; Abdullahi Shaibu, 26; and Obah Chima, 18. One of the suspects is said to be a motel owner.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, carried out the arrest on Monday, February 9, 2026, following credible intelligence.
According to the statement, the operatives stormed a motel in Uke where the suspects were apprehended.
“During the search, one Jojef pump-action gun with breach number 21SA-0724, loaded with three live cartridges, was recovered at the scene,” Ikenga said.
He added that one of the suspects, Ibeabuchi, allegedly confessed to the crime, while further investigations led to the arrest of the other two suspects. The police also recovered substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, crystal methamphetamine, colos and mkpuru-mmiri.
The Command reiterated its commitment to ongoing operations against criminal elements in the state and urged members of the public to provide useful information to support policing efforts.
