The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man over allegations of criminal intimidation, assault and the sexual abuse of his eight-year-old biological daughter.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Nafiu Habib.
According to the police, the incident was reported on December 31, 2025, at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Alkaleri by a family member of the suspect.
Habib said the suspect allegedly lured the minor into a bathroom at their residence in Alkaleri Local Government Area on December 30, 2025, where the abuse reportedly occurred.
“Upon receipt of the report, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Alkaleri swiftly visited the scene, ensured the victim was taken to General Hospital, Alkaleri, for immediate medical attention, and arrested the suspect,” the statement read.
The police spokesperson disclosed that the suspect reportedly confessed during interrogation.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, had directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough, discreet and evidence-based investigation into the matter.
Habib stated that the suspect would be profiled and charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Bauchi State Police Command reiterated its commitment towards protecting children, ensuring that perpetrators of abuse are brought to justice.
