The Ogun State Police Command has arrested four men for allegedly impersonating officials and extorting commercial motorcycle operators with fake revenue tickets in the Sagamu area of the state.
The suspects 50 year old Inidana Muhammad, 40 year old Ali Asan Makun Muhammad, 30 year old Ahmed Isa, and 23 year old Saliu Isa were picked up around the Sabo Under Bridge axis of Sagamu following a distress call to the Sakura Police Division.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, said the suspects were caught with forged ACOMORAN receipts, which they reportedly used to forcefully collect money from riders and traders.
According to Odutola, the arrests were made after the Divisional Police Officer received reports that some individuals were extorting unsuspecting members of the public with counterfeit tickets. Preliminary investigations also revealed that the forged tickets were supplied by one Yinusa, a resident of Sabo who is currently on the run.
The police say the four suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further interrogation and prosecution.
Commenting on the case, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, warned individuals and groups attempting to disrupt the activities of commercial motorcycle operators under the guise of enforcing illegal levies. He stressed that the Command would not hesitate to take firm action against anyone involved in forgery, impersonation, extortion or any conduct capable of threatening public peace.
He added that the Command remains focused on safeguarding communities and ensuring a lawful environment for residents across Ogun State.

A similar incident occurred in February 2020, when the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit arrested two men Monday Job and Rasak Oloyede for allegedly posing as security agents to evade arrest and perpetrate fraud around the Lagos Abeokuta Expressway.
Authorities say such impersonation schemes remain a threat to public safety, urging citizens to report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
