Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested four suspects over alleged attempted murder, malicious damage, and cult-related activities in Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed that the arrests followed a petition and intelligence-led operation carried out by detectives on March 20, 2026, at Ikot Asukpong Village.
The suspects were identified as John Samson (45), Emmanuel Asuquo (50), Idorenyin Umoh (22), and Okon Akpan (70).
According to the police, the operation led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and two long guns, which investigators believe are linked to the alleged criminal activities.
The command noted that the situation in the area remains calm, with adequate security measures in place to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
The police added that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of inquiries.
