PLATEAU SENATOR LAUDS TINUBU’S VISIT, BACKS AI CAMERA PLAN TO TACKLE INSECURITY

Senator Diket Plang, representing Plateau Central, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for visiting Plateau State – following the recent killings in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.

President Tinubu visited the state to condole with the government and people of Plateau over the March 29 gun attack that claimed several lives.

Speaking during the visit, Senator Plang praised the President’s proposed deployment of over 5,000 AI-enabled digital cameras to support security agencies in combating insecurity across the state.

He described the plan to install cameras across communities as a welcome development that would help monitor activities, track down criminals in the area.

The Senator thanked the president for directing the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Army Staff and the Inspector General of Police to track down and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.

Plang had earlier moved a joint motion at the Senate, calling for swift government intervention to restore peace and ensure those responsible for the killings are brought to justice.

The visit according to him, is an assurance that peace shall be restored fully in the communities, the state at large.

The President was received by Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, former governors, senators, traditional rulers and other stakeholders, who all expressed appreciation for the President’s prompt visit and support for the people of Plateau.
