Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State is set to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)

The Governor’s Political Adviser, Mr. Istifanus Nwansat, disclosed this in an interview with journalists on Monday, December 15 in Abuja.

Nwansat said Muftwang’s decision was informed by the lingering crisis within the PDP, which he described as chaotic, no longer a viable platform for political actors to effectively contest elections.

According to him, the move to the APC represents the option with the least political risk for the Governor, his supporters.

“From assessment, analysis of all the available options, we have concluded that the safest decision for us today, with the least risk factor, is to move to the APC,” Nwansat said.

He explained that the Governor’s planned defection would also align Plateau State with the political, governance trajectory of President Bola Tinubu.

“The Governor believes it is reasonable, as a leader, to move his people to align with the President. By assessment as a state, even as members of the PDP, we appreciate, recognize the efforts of Mr. President in putting things right,” he added.

Nwansat further noted that the internal crisis within the PDP had made the party an unrealistic platform for contesting future elections.
