PDP REAPPOINTS AKWA IBOM CARETAKER COMMITTEE

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the reappointment of the Akwa Ibom State Caretaker Committee.

The approval, granted on behalf of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), was made pursuant to Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended).

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Ini Ememobong, mnipr, the reappointed committee will continue to oversee the affairs of the party in Akwa Ibom State.

The Caretaker Committee is chaired by Mr. Iwat Umoren, with Mr. Harrison Ekpo serving as Deputy Chairman, while Mr. Borono Bassey retains his position as Secretary.

Other members of the committee include Barrister Ewa Okpo as Publicity Secretary; Chief Uduak Umo Nwa Essien as Organizing Secretary; Hon. Aniekan Joseph Asuquo as Youth Leader; Mary Silvia Abara as Women Leader; and Barrister Enoch Enoch as Legal Adviser, alongside 23 other members.

The party stated that the committee is charged with the responsibility of managing the affairs of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State in accordance with Section 21(2)(a–b) of the party’s constitution.

The tenure of the caretaker committee, according to the statement, will not exceed three months, or until a new State Executive Committee is elected.

The PDP expressed confidence in the ability of the caretaker committee to stabilize, strengthen the party’s structures in Akwa Ibom State ahead of forthcoming political activities.
