The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Hon. Francis Orogu as the Acting National Vice Chairman for the North Central zone.
His appointment follows the expulsion of the former National Vice Chairman (North Central), Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, by the party’s 2025 National Elective Convention.

According to a statement issued Tuesday night by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the decision was reached at the 610th meeting of the NWC held on Tuesday, in line with Article 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (as amended).
Until his elevation to the new role, Hon. Orogu served as the Secretary of the North Central Zonal Executive Committee of the party.
He will function in an acting capacity pending the election of a substantive zonal chairman.
The party called on its members, especially those in the North Central zone, to remain united and work closely with Orogu and other leaders to ensure continued progress within the party.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, the media and the general public have been advised to take note of the development.
