Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted a Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the party in Abia State.
The decision was taken by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), in line with Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025, as amended).
According to a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Ini Ememobong, mnipr, the Caretaker Committee will be chaired by Mr. Ikpegbu Emeka-Yellow.
Other members of the committee are Chief Ochiobi Fidel Chukwuemeka, Engr. Gladys Okoro, Chief Chijindu Kalu, Samuel Chukwudi Mike, Hon. Seth Agomuo, Mrs. Ugo Kalu, and Barr. Obinna Nwaogwugwu, while Felix Nwagbara will serve as Secretary.
The committee is mandated to manage and administer the affairs of the party in Abia State in accordance with Section 21(2)(a–b) of the PDP Constitution. Its tenure is for a period not exceeding 90 days or until a new state executive is duly elected.
The party leadership directed members of the Caretaker Committee to strictly adhere to the provisions of the PDP Constitution (2025, as amended), the Electoral Act, 2022, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) in the discharge of their duties.
The PDP expressed confidence that the committee would work towards strengthening the party’s structures and promoting unity and stability in Abia State during the transition period.
