The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of sustained anti-party activities, describing him as a “permanent agent provocateur” whose recent political alignment has exposed his true intentions.

In a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the party said Wike’s public declaration of support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 presidential election, while still identifying as a PDP member, justified his expulsion from the party.

The PDP was reacting to remarks made by Wike during his end-of-year media chat, where he described himself as the “number one supporter” of the presumed APC presidential candidate for 2027.

According to the party, Wike’s conduct represents a clear case of anti-party behaviour, an affront to democratic norms. The statement noted that the Minister’s actions were consistent with a long-standing pattern of political disruption dating back to his tenure as Governor of Rivers State.

The PDP recalled that Wike played key roles in several leadership crises within the party, including his involvement in the Ali Modu Sheriff, Uche Secondus, and Iyorchia Ayu national chairmanship controversies, where he allegedly championed the emergence of party leaders before later leading efforts to remove them.

The party also accused Wike of undermining internal democracy in Rivers State through the imposition of candidates, exclusionary practices, and the obstruction of PDP presidential campaign activities in the state during previous elections.

It further alleged that Wike’s recent public statements reflected fears of waning political relevance, declining influence in Rivers State, frustration with the current national leadership of the PDP.

The party claimed that Wike, some of his associates had now openly aligned with the APC, accusing them of working against the PDP’s collective interest in pursuit of personal, political gains.
