Nigerian social media personality Abike Raheem, popularly known as Papaya Ex, has alleged that she was assaulted by a police officer during a late night encounter in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
Papaya Ex made the allegation during an emotional live session on TikTok on Friday, claiming that the officer physically attacked her while she was returning home from a movie shoot.
According to her account, what started as a routine stop and conversation reportedly escalated into a confrontation. She alleged that the officer struck her on the face with a gun, assaulted her driver, engaged in inappropriate conduct.
Although the alleged incident was not fully captured on video, the influencer said poor network disrupted the recording. During the live broadcast, she showed what appeared to be injuries on her face.
In clips circulating online, voices of individuals involved in the heated exchange could be heard as the situation unfolded. However, the full details and authenticity of the claims could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
Papaya Ex further alleged that harassment by some officers in the Ajah axis is a recurring issue for residents. The development has sparked reactions across social media, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation.
