Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Usman Azeez, for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl in Iseyin Local Government Area of the State.

The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade.

According to the statement, the incident occurred while the victim went to fetch water from a nearby river.

Ayanlade said the case was reported at the Ado-Awaye Police Division on January 15, 2026, after which police operatives promptly mobilized to the scene.

“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives ensured the survivor received immediate medical attention.

Medical examination confirmed evidence consistent with penetration,” the statement said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Azeez allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor during the incident.

The suspect was arrested, currently in police custody, having reportedly confessed to the offence.

Police said investigation is ongoing, after which the suspect will be charged to court in accordance with the law.

In a separate operation, operatives attached to the Ojongbodu Police Division, while on routine stop-and-search patrol along the Oyo–Ibadan Expressway, intercepted an unregistered motorcycle conveying two suspected hoodlums.

The suspects reportedly abandoned the motorcycle and fled upon sighting the police patrol team. A search of the area led to the recovery of one locally fabricated revolver pistol, two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one Itel mobile phone, and the abandoned motorcycle.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the motorcycle had earlier been stolen at gunpoint, and the rightful owner has since been identified.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, directed that the case be handled with sustained intelligence-driven investigation to dismantle the criminal network involved, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.

Meanwhile, the command also confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old man, Abdulraheem Koni, in connection with the death of his employer, Lateef Giwa, aged 35, in Atisbo Local Government Area of the state.

The incident was reported at the Tede Police Division, where preliminary findings revealed that a misunderstanding between the suspect and the victim escalated into a violent assault, resulting in fatal injuries.

The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment but later died.

Examination of the body reportedly revealed bruises on the neck and rib areas, as well as a fracture on the left leg.

The suspect was promptly arrested, and due to the gravity of the offence, the Commissioner of Police ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for comprehensive investigation.

The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
