Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has declared that his administration will not be distracted by discussions about the 2027 general elections, insisting that his priority remains the delivery of good governance and the rebuilding of the state.
Governor Otti made this assertion on Saturday while addressing worshippers at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Umuikaa District Headquarters, in Isialangwa South Local Government Area, where he attended service alongside his wife, Priscilla Chidinma Otti.
According to the Governor, no individual or group has the right to divert his government’s attention from doing what is right for the people of Abia State.
“I am not bothered about 2027. The God that settled 2023 will also settle 2027,” Otti said.
He stressed that his administration would remain steadfast and focused, regardless of political noise.
“This government will continue to do the right thing. Nobody, no matter who they are, is entitled to distract us. When they make noise, we should not be bothered. We should remain focused and do what we have to do,” he added.
The Governor noted that he sometimes wonders whether those raising concerns are referring to the 2027 elections or some other imaginary contest, reiterating his confidence in divine guidance.
“The same way God delivered me in 2023 is the same way He will deliver me in 2027,” he stated.
Governor Otti also apologized to residents for the discomfort caused by dust and other inconveniences arising from the ongoing rehabilitation of the Umuikaa Junction–Owerrinta Road, explaining that such challenges are inevitable during development projects.
He disclosed that the road, although a federal highway, is being reconstructed and dualized by the Abia State Government with the approval of the Federal Government, adding that the project has reached its final stages.
“As you can see, we are at the final stages of dualising this road. We are also working on the road from Onuimo to Tower. Our goal is that anytime you enter Abia State, you will know you have entered Abia State,” Otti said.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, improving the living conditions of Abia residents.
