Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), under the Joint Task Force North West, have sustained coordinated offensives against terrorist elements across the region, recording notable successes between January 21 and 22, 2026.
According to a statement by the operation, troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, supported by Department of State Services (DSS) assets, engaged suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol in Gundumi Village, Isa Local Government Area.
One terrorist was neutralized during the encounter, while others fled into the forest.
Items recovered at the scene included six AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles, the statement said.
In a related operation, troops of 1 Brigade, working with the Headquarters Joint Task Force OPFY Mobile Strike Team, acted on credible intelligence indicating that injured terrorists were receiving treatment in Bingi Forest.
The troops located, destroyed a makeshift medical facility used by the group.
Military authorities said the destruction of the facility dealt a significant blow to the terrorists’ support network, underscored the effectiveness and responsiveness of ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the region
The Joint Task Force said the sustained successes reflect its determination to degrade terrorist networks, restore peace and security across the North West.
