The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has withdrawn a corps member, Oyaje Daniel, from his Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) at Judeen International School, Annex Section, Mando, Kaduna State, following a controversial online comment he made about teenage female students.

Daniel, who is serving in Igabi Local Government Area, was summoned by the NYSC State Disciplinary Committee after the comment went viral, drawing public outrage. He appeared before the committee alongside his CDS President.

He was later accompanied to the NYSC State Headquarters by the Alumni President of his college, Comrade Philip Ayuba Bobai, and rights activist John Adesogan, who both engaged NYSC officials on the matter. Observers at the meeting said Daniel appeared visibly remorseful and sober throughout the session.

Following deliberations, the NYSC announced several disciplinary actions. Daniel has been withdrawn from his PPA and redeployed to the NYSC State Headquarters in Kaduna for the remainder of his service year, where he will be placed under closer supervision. Although accommodation is available at the headquarters, the corps member will not be permitted to reside there and is required to report to the office daily.

Additionally, NYSC has constituted an investigative panel to visit Judeen International School to determine whether Daniel engaged in any misconduct beyond the online comment. The agency said any evidence of further wrongdoing would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.

NYSC officials also disclosed that other corps members who made similar inappropriate remarks under the viral post are being monitored and will face disciplinary action in line with the Corps’ regulations.

The organisation reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for behaviour that endangers students or violates professional ethics, stressing that Daniel’s case serves as a strong reminder to corps members on the consequences of irresponsible social media use.
