The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has received a major boost with the defection of Uwemedimo Nwoko, SAN, a former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the state and a Life Bencher, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Nwoko’s defection was formally announced at an event held at the Ika Local Government Council Secretariat, where party leaders, supporters declared total loyalty to Governor Umo Eno, pledged support for his second-term ambition, as well as for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Welcoming the new APC member, the Chairman of Ika Local Government Area, Barrister Utibe Nwoko, said the local government area stood firmly behind Governor Umo Eno and was committed to ensuring his re-election.
He also assured of the people’s support for the re-election of President Tinubu and the return of Senator Akpabio as Senate President, stressing that Ika Local Government remained fully aligned with the Governor’s ARISE Agenda.
In his remarks, Uwemedimo Nwoko, SAN, said his decision to join the APC followed a careful review of political developments and the performances of Governor Umo Eno, Senate President Akpabio and President Tinubu.
“I have reappraised my political journey and resolved to join the APC after duly resigning from the PDP,” he said, noting that the leadership in Ika Local Government also influenced his decision.
