The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, has announced an elaborate line-up of events for the 2025 Press Week, scheduled to hold from Sunday, November 30 to Friday, December 5, 2025.
The information is contained in a statement by the State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Nsibiet John; Chairman of the Press Week Planning Committee, Comrade Ndanti Ekuh; Secretary of the Planning Committee, Comrade Nseabasi Valentine and Chairman, Publicity Sub-Committee, Comrade Harrison Essien.
This year’s celebration is on the theme “Journalism Practice in Akwa Ibom: The Turning Point.”
According to the Union, the week-long activities will kick off on Sunday, November 30, with a Thanksgiving Service at All Grace Ministry, IBB Avenue, Uyo, beginning at 9:00 a.m followed by “A Session with Veteran Journalists” at the NUJ Press Centre by 2:00 p.m.
The official opening ceremony is slated for Monday, December 1 at the NUJ Press Centre, Uyo.
The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, will declare the Press Week open at 10:00 a.m with a London-based media professional, Moffat Ekoriko, delivering the keynote address.
On Tuesday, December 2, the Union will observe Chapel Day, with an Artistic Competition taking place at the Press Centre by 12 noon.
The activities continue on Wednesday, December 3, with a Workshop billed for 10:00 a.m., to be facilitated by renowned Channels Television broadcaster, Seun Okinbaloye.
Thursday, December 4, will feature Community Service and a Road Walk, followed by football matches involving female teams at 3:00 p.m. and male teams at 4:00 p.m.

The 2025 Press Week will climax on Friday, December 5, with the 37th NUJ Anniversary Celebration, Awards, and Gala Night, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the NUJ Press Centre, Uyo.
The Union encouraged members, partners, stakeholders and the general public to participate fully in the activities, which are aimed at deepening professionalism and strengthening media engagement in Akwa Ibom State.
