Some Nigerians living in the United States have gone into hiding or returned home quietly following an intensified deportation drive by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), part of President Donald Trump’s crackdown on undocumented migrants.
The campaign, which has targeted communities across multiple states, has prompted fear among Nigerian expatriates, leading some to voluntarily leave the country to avoid arrest or detention.
Authorities say the operation is part of broader immigration enforcement measures, but community leaders warn that the actions are causing panic, disruption among families and local businesses.
